THUNDER BAY – Ken Ranta has been chosen to take the top job at the District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board.

Ranta, who joined DSSAB in 2013 as director of housing and later served as director of integrated social services starting in 2020, will take over the role on Sept. 28, following the retirement of current chief administrative officer Bill Bradica.

“I am grateful to the Board for their confidence in my ability to lead TBDSSAB. I am looking forward to this next step and continuing to support the organization in meeting its strategic goals,” Ranta said in a release issued on Friday.

Coun. Brian Hamilton, who chairs the DSSAB, said the transition should be a smooth one.

“Bill has set TBDSSAB up for ongoing success, and we are so grateful to him for steering this ship for the past 12 years. Changes in leadership are a big moment for any organization, and our board is confident that Ken Ranta will be a great fit for leading the organization to meet its strategic goals,” Hamilton said.

Bradica announced in January he was stepping down after more than 12 years on the job.
