OTTAWA -- Team Dubinsky came up short in their round-robin finale, but they're moving on at the Canadian U18 Curling Championships.

The foursome, who curl out of the Kakabeka Falls Curling Club, managed to steal one in the eighth end on Thursday afternoon, but it left them one shy of Alberta's Emma DeSchiffart, who prevailed 7-6.

Dubinsky, lead Lily Ariganello, second Bella McCarville and third Rylie Paul finished the round-robin portion of the event with an even 3-3 record, good for fourth place in the Pool A standings. The top four finishers in each of the three pools advance to the next round.

Team Northern Ontario No. 1 trailed 2-0 after two ends, but evened things up 3-3 in the fifth, only to give up four without hammer in the sixth to trail 7-3. They got two back in the seventh and stole a single in the eighth, but needed a deuce to force an extra end.

Team Dubinsky will take to the ice on Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. to open the playoffs, against a yet-to-be-determined opponent. The winner of that match will advance to the second round, while the loser will drop to the consolation round.
