THUNDER BAY -- The Indigenous man whose body was recovered from Thunder Bay's Neebing-McIntyre Floodway on the weekend was 21-year-old Dylan Joe Francis Moonias of Thunder Bay.

Thunder Bay Police officially released his identity on Tuesday, three days after a kayaker discovered his body in the water behind the Thunder Centre retail area on Fort William Road.

A post-mortem was completed on Monday in Toronto, with further testing by the regional coroner's office pending.

Detectives continue to appeal to anyone who may have seen Moonias between the evening of Thursday, Sept. 21 and the morning of Saturday, Sept. 23.

Police earlier asked to hear from anyone who had seen him on Thursday evening around 8:30 p.m. in the Intercity area, possibly in the company of others.

He was described as slim with short black hair, and wearing a beige or brown long-sleeve shirt, black pants and black shoes.
