Early morning crash

City police have reopened James and North Edward Streets after a collision early Friday morning sent five people to hospital. The incident happened around 2 a.m. and involved two vehicles and a rollover.

City police have reopened James and North Edward Streets after a collision early Friday morning sent five people to hospital.

The incident happened around 2 a.m. and involved two vehicles and a rollover.

A red Pontiac travelling east on James Street at a high rate of speed allegedly ran through a red light at the Edward Street intersection and struck a northbound black Nissan.

The 24-year-old male driver of the Pontiac was taken to hospital with minor injuries and was then released into police custody.

He is facing 13 charges, including multiple counts of impaired driving, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, failing to stop at the scene and breach of probation

The 20-year-old female driver of the Nissan and her three passengers were taken to hospital and are all expected to be released at some point Friday.
