A local restaurant will be moving into the city’s waterfront just in time for summer.
The unnamed eatery will take over space in the southeast corner of the water garden pavilion. It’s also expected to be licensed.
“We’re just working through some of the logistical details in developing the lease agreement and the space itself,” city waterfront development manager Katherine Dugmore said.
“There’s not a whole lot that needs to be done to the space for it to be occupied.”
Dugmore said she hopes the restaurant makes use of the pavilion’s outdoor space as well but that will be up to the operator.
TJ’s Ice Cream Shoppe has already moved into the waterfront, opening on Tuesday. And the splash pad will be up and running once the weather starts to warm up.
Dugmore expects the water will start flowing around mid-June and will be a popular feature.
“It again will be active like the ice rink was,” she said.
The baggage building will be used for local artist programming and activities starting next month as well.
As for private development, construction has begun on a parking structure and the model-home condominium sales office.
“I think we can expect that as soon as they’re able they will be opening their sales office,” Dugmore said.
