Bike Lights - Eco Superior

THUNDER BAY – Eco Superior wants to light up local cyclists’ lives.

Over the course of the next couple of weeks, the organization plans to hand out free cycling lights, noting that 30 per cent of all cycling fatalities occur between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.

“Darkness comes early this time of year,” says Safe Cycling Thunder Bay co-ordinator Caroline Cox, in a release issued on Thursday by Eco Superior.

“Visibility is a key factor in cycling safety, and we are hoping people will take advantage of these free lights to help stay safe.”

The lights, one white for the front and one red for the back, come in a set of two, and attach quickly and easily, with no tools required. They can also be switched from steady to blinking mode.

The following are the times the lights will be available.

  • Thursday, November 16 5-7 p.m. May at William
  • Monday, November 20 5-7 p.m. Algoma at MacIntyre
  • Tuesday, November 21, 5-7 p.m. Frederica at Edward
  • Thursday, November 23, 5-7 p.m. Court at Red River
  • Tuesday, November 28, 5-7 p.m. Simpson at Ogden
  • Thursday November 30, 5-7 p.m. Memorial at John
