THUNDER BAY – Ed Hailio will be taking a shot at the mayor's chair.
Hailio on Tuesday officially became the ninth participant in the race, filing his candidacy for mayor.
He previously ran for an at-large position in 2014, finishing at the bottom of the field of 19 contenders with a little more than 1,000 votes.
Meanwhile, this year's at-large race has officially hit double digits.
Jim Howie is the latest to throw his name into the race, joining nine others in search of the five available city council spots.
Diane Armstrong, Kim Ducharme, current McIntyre Coun. Trevor Giertuga, Chris Krumpholz, Derek Lankinen, Tracey MacKinnon, Lori Paras, Jeff Upton and incumbent Coun. Aldo Ruberto had previously filed.
Howie is a former business manager for the International Brotherhood of Electrical workers, responsible for negotiations with Thunder Bay Telephone and Thunder Bay Hydro. He's also served on the Ontario Utility Safety Association, the Thunder Bay International Airport Authority and was a founding member of the Thunder Bay Economic Development Commission.
