Eight people charged with impaired driving offences from Dec. 2 to 7

Thunder Bay police have begun publishing the names of individuals charged with impaired driving offences in hopes of deterring others from getting behind the wheel impaired by drugs or alcohol.

THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay police have charged eight individuals with criminal impaired driving offences over the last six days. 

In an effort to deter people from getting behind the wheel while impaired by drugs and alcohol, city police will be reporting the names of individuals charged with impaired driving offences, according to a news release issued by police on Monday, Dec. 7.

The following eight people have been charged with impaired driving by alcohol or drugs, driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 milligrams or above of 100 millilitres of blood, or refusing to provide a breath or blood sample:

• John Alvin MALICKI, 82, Thunder Bay 

• Alexander Samuel DAVIDSON-ROBINSON, 22, Thunder Bay 

• Kelley Lynne TREICHLER, 45, Winnipeg 

• Mark MORRIS, 40, Thunder Bay 

• Michael Edward CVAR, 34, Thunder Bay 

• Joseph Robert LABERGE, 48, Kakabeka Falls 

• Katelee MARKEWICH, 24, Thunder Bay 

• Randy Ray JONASSON, 42, Thunder Bay 

These individuals were charged between Wednesday, Dec. 2 and Monday, Dec. 7. 

The new initiative to name individuals was formally announced by Thunder Bay police on Dec. 2 as an extra layer of enforcement during the annual festive RIDE program. An updated list will be provided weekly on the Thunder Bay Police Service’s website and will be live every Monday afternoon naming new individuals charged with impaired driving offences.

Police are also encouraging the public to report suspected impaired driving in progress by calling 911. Individuals charged for impaired driving also face a 90-day driver’s licence suspension under the Ministry of Transportation.
