THUNDER BAY – Elevate NWO was the recipient of a $10,000 donation from Clean Air Metals Inc. and Holly Gauvin, executive director, Elevate NWO, says that her whole team was deeply moved by the donation.

“It's absolutely amazing, I sent out an e-mail to our team today just letting them know what was happening this afternoon,” she said.

“And I said to them, to get a gift from a friend is always such a lovely thing, but to get a gift from friends you didn't even know you had, it's just inspirational, so everybody is pretty choked up and overwhelmed at the general.”

Elevate NWO has been working towards replacing their old van which they use to meet people and provide some of their services on the street and Gauvin says that this donation brings them up to $14,000 of their $80,000 goal.

“It’s a really great start and we're hoping to continue to push to get the rest of the funds raised because we need that van,” she said.

“We're heading into a really, really cold season and my team meet people out on the street so they need a warm place to be for a while so this is a great chance to put an office on Wheels together to support the needs of people in our community.”

For residents who also wish to help out this local organization, there are many ways to donate.

“You can always drop by our office, but there's also [Canada Helps] so you can go to their website and if you look up AIDS Committee, Thunder Bay, that's our legal name and then you'll see elevate NWO right under it and you can contribute to the van project and we will gratefully accept your donations,” she said.

“Just again, thank you to all those who've already donated and thank you for continued patience and support in the Community as we work to connect people up before the weather becomes very, very bitter and very, very cold we're just really grateful to the community of Thunder Bay.”
