Energy board approves ‘revenue decrease’ for Thunder Bay Hydro

Thunder Bay, ON – The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has approved a local distribution revenue decrease in the amount of 0.26 per cent (one quarter of a percentage point) for Thunder Bay Hydro Electricity Distribution Inc.

Thunder Bay, ON –  The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has approved a local distribution revenue decrease in the amount of 0.26 per cent (one quarter of a percentage point) for Thunder Bay Hydro Electricity Distribution Inc.  

However, the OEB decision also includes other line items such as electricity charges for electricity supplied, transmission and regulatory charges.  The resulting overall impact on customer bills will be an increase of one cent or .01% on overall residential bills.

Bill impacts for the rate order are as follows:

These changes will take place for electricity consumers as of May 1, 2016.

The provincial has also announced new Time of Use prices for summer time periods. Thunder Bay Hydro is a “Local Distribution Company.” 

We are owned by the City of Thunder Bay and run by a City-appointed board.  Our role is to take power off the provincial grid and distribute it to the residents and businesses within the city of Thunder Bay.
