Extreme cold warning ends, cold snap here all week

THUNDER BAY -- Believe it or not, the city’s extreme cold warning has come to an end. Environment Canada announced the end of the extreme cold warning just after 11 a.m. Monday, despite temperatures still colder than -20C.

Environment Canada announced the end of the extreme cold warning just after 11 a.m. Monday, despite temperatures still colder than -20C. The extreme warning originally came with a predictions of wind chill factors that would make it feel colder than -40C Monday.

Despite the official end of the warning, the cold snap is certainly not over.

Monday’s -20C high still comes with wind chill factors that will make it feel like -38C.

An overnight low of -24C Monday night into Tuesday morning will be followed by a -17C high Tuesday.

The rest of the week is expected to feature daytime highs around -19C, with a sunny and relatively mild -13C predicted for Sunday.

Keep the vehicles plugged in though, as the week’s nighttime lows will hover around -27C.
