THUNDER BAY — Facebook has taken down the page connected to the former Thunder Bay chapter of the Bear Clan Patrol.

The move came late Tuesday after Winnipeg-based Bear Clan Patrol Inc. submitted a complaint to Facebook alleging trademark infringement over the use of its name and logo by the local group.

Executive Director James Favel had announced earlier in the day that Bear Clan Patrol Inc. was cutting ties with the Thunder Bay chapter because, he said, its "inflammatory" posts were dividing the community and did not reflect his group's mission and values.

Favel said a new Facebook page has now been established for Bear Clan Patrol Inc. and "we're looking forward to getting things back on track as soon as possible" in Thunder Bay with the establishment of a replacement local chapter.
