Failure to stop for police results in charges

DRYDEN – A failure to stop for police has resulted in multiple charges for a Vancouver resident.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 17 in Hodgson Township on Monday, Feb.7 just after 11 a.m.

Police say the vehicle initially pulled over and stopped for police, but accelerated and fled the scene.

The vehicle continued westbound and was abandoned on Bedworth Avenue in Dryden.

Officers located and arrested the accused around 12:30 p.m.

Police have charged a 46-year-old Vancouver, B.C. resident with dangerous operation, obstructing peace officer, flight from peace officer and operation while prohibited.

The accused has been held in custody.
