WINDSOR, Ont. – If only the St. Ignatius Falcons could have fourth-quarter do-overs.
Twice on Wednesday the boys’ basketball team carried large lead into the final quarter at the OFSAA AA high school basketball championship in Windsor, only to come up short.
Seeking Thunder Bay’s first provincial basketball title, the Falcons led eventual champion St. Francis by nine after three quarters in the morning semifinal, but a 14-0 run erased their lead and they went on to a 77-69 defeat.
Later in the day, in the bronze-medal match, St. Ignatius led Adam Scott 64-56 after three, but was outscored 23-11 in the final frame and fell 79-75.
