Fame coming soon to St. Ignatius

The first showing is running from May 2 to 4

THUNDER BAY – St. Ignatius students are gearing up to bring a little fame to Thunder Bay.

“Fame” the musical, based on the 1980 musical film of the same name, is the latest big-name show being brought to the city by local high school students.

Roughly 30 students, along with a live band, are involved in the production. Students and teachers have been hard at work over the last 10 months getting the show ready, including building a 12-foot temporary extension to the school's original stage.

“We started in June when we announced it to the school. We started with our licensing and just getting it ready. In September we started with auditions, then we did call-backs, and then we started the process,” said Caterina Tolone, production director.

“We had over 45 students audition and this is our cast. We have a huge cast, 30 students, cast ensemble dancers, and we now have a male ensemble and we have our live band, which is all students.”

The first showing is running from May 2 to 4, and then again from May 9 to 11. Tickets are available on EventBrite.
