DRYDEN, Ont. -- The Trans-Canada Highway east of Dryden will remain closed until close to midnight after a fatal collision near Dinorwic on Thursday afternoon.

An OPP spokesperson said a pickup truck collided with a tractor trailer unit hauling cattle.  The driver of the pickup died at the scene, and the passenger suffered life-threatening injuries.

Several school bus routes were cancelled as a result of the closure of Highway 17, and students were supervised at schools until alternate arrangements could be made.

Location of the crash is near Old Huckell Road
