THUNDER BAY — The City of Thunder Bay Animal Services department is bringing charges against the owner of a dog that attacked and killed another dog on Sept. 16.

The incident occurred Sunday evening on Blucher Avenue while a pekingese/pomeranian mix was being taken for a walk.

The owner of the pit bull/shar-pei mix that got out of its yard and killed the smaller dog has been fined $195 for allowing it to run at large.

A spokesperson for Animal Services said Wednesday that the investigation is not completed yet and that additional charges are pending.

The pit bull/shar-pei's owner has met with the owner of the pekingese/pomeranian and has paid for her pet's cremation.
