Thrill seekers had two more rides to choose from at this year’s CLE fair.
The annual four –day fair held on the CLE grounds added two more rides for participants to try out. The 60-foot-tall Ring of Fire loop made its return and kept a steady stream of riders lining up to take a spin. The other ride new to the CLE was the 110-foot Slingshot that rockets riders up into the sky and quickly drops them back to the ground.
The two attractions brings the total number of rides at the CLE to 36.

Georgia D’Angelo has come to the annual fair every year for the past 10 years because her daughter Charlene enjoyed going on the rides. While D’Angelo wouldn’t be going up on either of the two thrill rides, she said her daughter would be one of the first inline on Sunday to take a spin on it.
“It’s nice to see new rides,” D’Angelo said. “A couple of new rides here and there makes you want to keep coming back.”
Carlie Skribka agreed with D’Angelo that more variation in the number of rides makes the fair fresher.
Carlie went on the Ring of Fire with her friends. She said they love to go on thrill rides but she didn’t share that same affection.
“I thought I was going to die,” Carlie said. “I’m not a thrill seeker. I come to the fair every year. I enjoy that there are new rides to try.”
CLE President Reta Stoger said the two rides have had hour-long line ups. Given the success of them, she said they would make repeat appearances at future fairs. She added that Select Shows president Jim Mills will also be bringing in another new ride for next year.
Admission has also been consistent with last year’s numbers and besides some rain on Wednesday, the weather has cooperated with this year’s fair as well, she said.
“It cools down in the evenings but it doesn’t seem to affect the crowd at all,” Stoger said. “When we get the hypnotist on stage at 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. this place is just packed.”
The CLE runs until 12 a.m. Sunday.
