SHEBANDOWAN, Ont. - Several structures were destroyed in an overnight fire at a camping resort west of the city.

A fire broke out at Shebandowan Shores Resort at approximately 12:30 a.m. Thursday and continued to burn throughout the night.

Fire crews with the Shebandowan Fire Department and the Conmee Fire Department responded to the blaze and were able to get it under control by 4 a.m.

“Big thanks to the Shebandowan and Conmee firefighters who got there as soon as they could to control it,” said Shebandowan Shores Resort owner, Jake Adduono. “It was a pretty darn big fire.”

As a result of the fire, four privately owned trailers were destroyed as well as the washroom building on the property.

None of the destroyed trailers were occupied at the time though others nearby were.

“A bunch of the neighbours were there,” Adduono said. “The fire just barely got contained before it reached them.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Office of the Fire Marshal. There were no reports of any injuries as a result of the fire.
