Fire code violations prove costly for apartment building owner

A Brodie Street apartment building owner has been hit with a big fine for fire code violations.

A Brodie Street apartment building owner has been hit with a big fine for fire code violations. 

The owner was convicted on several counts, which included failure to maintain the building fire alarm, failing to maintain portable fire extinguishers and failure to provide working smoke detectors. 

He was assessed fines totalling almost $12,000.
