THUNDER BAY – Fire crews were busy Tuesday afternoon responding to two fires on the city’s south side in less than two hours.
According to a release, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to a structural fire at 3:47 p.m. on the city’s south side that had started in a garage heated by a wood stove.
An offensive attack was initiated and the fire was quickly brought under control.
Fire crews also responded to a call of a fire to an excavator around 5:14 p.m.
According to the release, large amounts of smoke could be seen in the Westfort area.
The fire involved an excavator that had ruptured a diesel fuel tank.
Fire crews used AFFF foam to extinguish the stubborn fire. The fire was eventually brought under control.
There were no reported injuries.
