THUNDER BAY – A fire claimed two garages on the south side late Monday night.
Just before 12 a.m., Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to reports of a fire in between two garages behind a Prince Arthur Boulevard address.
Three pumpers responded carrying 13 firefighters. The first arriving crew encountered flames from the walls between the two garages that burned from the ground to the eaves.
A second alarm was called to help battle the blaze.
The fire proved to be a challenge, but firefighters were able to bring it under control.
Although firefighters were able to put out the fire, the first garage sustained significant damage and the second garage suffered heavy damage to the roof with water damage throughout the work area.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
Fire officials say an investigation will begin Tuesday morning.
