A fire destroyed a Swanee’s Cabins unit on North Cumberland Street Wednesday evening.
Thunder Bay Fire Service officials say the fire was reported at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday. When firefighters from Hodder, North Central and Junot Stations arrived on scene at 529 N. Cumberland St., they found the unit already completely engulfed in flames.
Firefighters say they were able to bring the fire under control quickly.
The lone male occupant of the unit escaped just before firefighters arrived. The man was assessed by paramedics on scene and did not require any further medical attention.
A nearby unit sustained smoke and water damage.
The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
