THUNDER BAY -- An overheated bearing is being blamed for a fire at Resolute Forest Products early Wednesday morning.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to the structural fire just before 8 a.m.
A bearing in an auger had overheated inside the silo and caused the wood chips to ignite.
Firefighters remained on scene for 18 hours.
Resolute Forest Product employees removed the wood chips out an access door with front-end loaders. While firefighters continued to prevent the spread of the fire.
No injuries were reported and damage to the silo was kept at a minimal.
