THUNDER BAY -- A major Monday evening fire has destroyed a Westfort home and damaged a neighbouring house.
No one was hurt as a result of the Broadmore Street blaze, but the flames were so severe they caused damage to a neighbouring home.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue firefighters responded to reports of a house fire on Broadmore Avenue near Francis Street around 6 p.m.
“When our crews arrived here they found a significant amount of fire on the exterior of building 1324,” said Fire Chief John Hay, who was on the scene at the time.
“The fire was big enough that it caught the exposure next door, so both buildings were on fire for a period of time.”
Hay added that crews put out the fire quickly, and interior searches were done on both buildings ensuring that nobody was inside.
Both houses sustained significant damage on the outside and is being inspected by Thunder Bay inspection.
No injuries have been reported as a result of this blaze.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
