The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office continues to investigate a pair of vehicle fires reported early Tuesday morning.
One of vehicle fires also caused major damage to a family home on Summit Avenue. The vehicle in that fire was completely destroyed.
Fire Marshal's Office investigator Rolf Waffler said they have sent samples away to determine whether ignitable liquids were used to start the fires. Although the investigator says he is not ready to say if arson is suspected, Waffler confirms that the Thunder Bay Police Service has been brought in to conduct interviews with witnesses who may have more information.
The first fire started at about 4 a.m. in a vehicle parked in the carport of the home on Summit Avenue, which then spread to the interior of the home.
The second blaze broke out about a half-hour later on nearby Crown Street, destroying one car and causing significant damage to another.
Anyone with information is asked to contact city police.
