THUNDER BAY – An early morning fire on the city’s north side is being treated as suspicious.
Firefighters responded to reports of a blaze at 97 Court Street at about 3 a.m.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue Platoon Chief Brian Dychko said fire crews were able to handle the fire quickly after arriving on scene.
“The second alarm was called before units arrived,” Dychko said during an interview with CKPR Radio. “Units arrived and found flames coming from the front door and window.
“There were no injuries. There was no one found inside, and it is suspicious because the backdoor was open and now it is under investigation.”
Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service are now holding the scene.
The building appears to have been an abandoned home. The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
