Fire quickly doused at Hudson Street apartment

Residents smelled smoke in their building, isolated the apartment unit and called emergency crews to put it out.

THUNDER BAY – The smell of smoke led Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews to a Hudson Avenue apartment complex on Monday evening.

According to a release, residents were the first to notice the smoke, and began investigating the cause, isolating it to an apartment unit.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews arrived and brought the lower-level fire under control, containing it to the room of origin.

Crews remained on scene until the hazards from the fire were mitigated.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Six pumpers, an aerial ladder and a command unit responded to the alarm.
