Firearms incident in Sioux Lookout resolved

SIOUX LOOKOUT, Ont. – A situation has been resolved after Police in Sioux Lookout responded to a firearms-related incident in the Northern Ontario community.

On Thursday, Ontario Provincial Police responded to an incident on Birchwood Crescent. Residents were asked to await contact by police and nearby schools were placed under a hold-and-secure order to ensure the safety of students.

Officers, in a release, said schools were dismissed and all residents were allowed to return to their homes late Thursday afternoon.

Police want to thank everyone’s assistance in keeping the areas clear as they worked to resolve the matter.
