Firefighters battle evening garage fire

THUNDER BAY – Firefighters responded to a garage fire on the city’s north side Wednesday,

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue was called to a home on Arundel Street Wednesday around 6 p.m. after a garage fire broke out.

Fire crews arrived to extinguish the small developing fire that started inside the sealed-up garage.

The owner of the garage had recently lit his woodstove and objects close to the stove were ignited.

TBFR wants to remind the public to maintain proper clearances around wood-burning appliances to prevent these accidents.
