Firefighters called to deal with kitchen fire

THUNDER BAY — a grease fire kept Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews busy on Thursday morning   

In a release issued to local media,  Thunder Bay Fire Rescue said they arrived at a Victoria Avenue East apartment just after midnight, where they found light smoke showing. 

A tenant had attempted to put out the small fire, which occurred when a pot of oil on the stove caught fire spilled out, as the pot was removed from the stove, ignited another pool of cooking oil.

The fire was contained to kitchen area, with large amount of damage. Two occupants were displaced from apartment.

Thunder Bay Fire Service recommends not to remove a pot of hot oil from a stove, as personal injuries are highly possible.
