THUNDER BAY -- Firefighters made quick work extinguishing a south side house fire.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews were called toa  home on the 100 block of Bethune Street just before 9 p.m. Tuesday after a neighbour noticed smoke coming from a second-storey window.

The home was under extensive renovations, creating what fire officials describe as "hazardous conditions."

The fire was put out by an exterior attack from the rear of the house and damage was kept to a minimum. Nobody was injured.

The cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental due to a portable halogen light being left close to combustible material.
