The following is a list provided by Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue Service:
- Read the instructions before using any fireworks
- Adults 18 and over are to set off the fireworks
- Fireworks cannot be set off in city parks; only on private property
- Only use low hazard or family fireworks
- High hazard fireworks are for professionals
- Light one firework at a time
- Never re-light dud fireworks wait 15 to 20 minutes then soak them in a buck of water before discarding
- Always place fireworks in a sand filled receptacle when firing
- Purchase fireworks from a reputable store
- Always wear hand and eye protection
- Have a portable fire extinguisher or garden hose
