The following is a list provided by Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue Service:
  • Read the instructions before using any fireworks
  • Adults 18 and over are to set off the fireworks
  • Fireworks cannot be set off in city parks; only on private property
  • Only use low hazard or family fireworks
  • High hazard fireworks are for professionals
  • Light one firework at a time
  • Never re-light dud fireworks wait 15 to 20 minutes then soak them in a buck of water before discarding
  • Always place fireworks in a sand filled receptacle when firing
  • Purchase fireworks from a reputable store
  • Always wear hand and eye protection
  • Have a portable fire extinguisher or garden hose
