A large brush fire near Confederation College kept Thunder Bay Firefighters busy Friday.
Crews were called to the scene after 11 a.m. when area residents spotted smoke coming from the bush off of Golf Links Road. While the deep-seeded fire was brought under control relatively quickly, crews continued to monitor the situation into the afternoon.
Capt. Mark Harris said the fire likely started three or four hours before pumpers arrived on the scene.
Harris added that while the blaze doesn't seem to have been caused by human negligence, residents should exercise caution as conditions are still extremely dry.
