Union now represents staff at Weechi-it-te-wen Family Services.
Unifor!

Unifor is expanding its already-dominant position in northwestern Ontario's labour sector.

Heading into the Labour Day weekend, the union announced that its newest members will be the staff at Weechi-it-te-wen Family Services.

Fifty employees voted Thursday night to join Unifor.

The workers provide family support services and operate a residential treatment facility serving 10 First Nations communities across the Rainy River and Kenora districts.

Unifor national representative Stephen Boon said "as we celebrate organized labour's efforts to improve the lives of working families, we are extremely pleased to welcome these new members."

Boon said the union will arrange meetings with them this fall to elect a bargaining committee and initiate negotiations with management on a new collective agreement.
