A new event aimed at removing the stigma from suicide and helping the people left behind is being launched in Thunder Bay.
The first of what organizers hope will be the annual Out of the Darkness Memorial Walk is taking place at Confederation College on Sunday evening.
Organizer Margaret Hajdinjak lost her son to suicide in 2005. She proposed the idea to people in Thunder Bay, and now more than 150 people are registered to participate in the walk.
The event will also feature a memory wall, where people can display photos of loved ones lost to suicide.
The walk will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at the college, and people can still register on the day of the event, between 5 and 6 p.m.
