Five new COVID cases in Kenora region include one at school

KENORA, Ont. — The Northwestern Health Unit reported five new positive COVID-19 test results in the Kenora region on Monday.

All the cases are connected to previously-identified cases around Kenora, th ehealth unit said.

The NWHU confirmed that one of the new cases is associated with a local school, and said it is working closely with the Kenora Catholic District School Board to minimize the impact in the school community.

The school remains open to those who have not been identified by the health unit as close contacts and told to self-isolate as a precaution.

The school board earllier announced a positive COVID-19 case at St. Thomas Aquinas High School.

There are currently 26 active cases in the NWHU's jurisdiction, including 21 in the Kenora region.
