THUNDER BAY -- There's a heated race shaping up for Chief of the Fort William First Nation.

A nomination meeting was held Saturday night, and the list of candidates was made official Thursday.

Former longtime chief Peter Collins is attempting a comeback. He served six terms as chief between 1998 and 2013, before deciding not to run again in the last election.

He'll be attempting to unseat current Chief Georjann Morriseau, who won over four challengers in 2013.

She's seeking re-election after deciding not to pursue the federal Liberal nomination in Thunder Bay-Rainy River.

The other three candidates for chief are Glen Bannon, Mark Boucher, and Ken Ogima.

There are also 67 people running for the 12 band council positions.

The election is scheduled for Saturday, April 11.
