THUNDER BAY – A former mayoral candidate was scheduled to be in court Thursday for a hearing to waive penalties for not filing campaign expenses on time.
Shane Judge, who ran for mayor in last year’s municipal election, was listed on the courthouse docket for a judicial application review with the City of Thunder Bay.
City clerk John Hannam confirmed Judge is applying for relief of penalties under the Municipal Election Act for not filing his expense report by the deadline.
He said the city is not taking a positon on the matter.
Candidates had until March 27 to file their campaign statements. Failure to do so what result in being ineligible to run in any subsequent by-election or the 2018 municipal election.
Despite his name being listed on the docket, Judge’s case was not called at the scheduled 10 a.m. time.
Judge finished third behind Keith Hobbs and Ken Boshcoff in October's mayoral race.
