Nearly 1,000 people from Thunder Bay took part in the latest Driven to Quit challenge, and on Wednesday some of those former smokers walked away with prizes.
Members of Tobacco-Free Thunder Bay gathered at the Thunder Bay District Health Unit to present prizes to three people for not smoking during the entire month of March.
The Driven to Quit campaign is now in its 12th year, and has inspired more than 200,000 people across Ontario to try quitting the habit.
Melody Wawia was the winner of a brand new mountain bike, and says her daughter was her inspiration to join the challenge.
Another Thunder Bay resident, Mellisa Wice, won $2,000 in the Driven to Quit Challenge, and picked up her cheque last month in Toronto.
