A Fort Frances area hunting operator has been fined $40,000 in provincial court for various offences related to his business, which catered primarily to U.S. hunters.
Grant Gustafson pled guilty to charges that included hunting swimming deer, discharging firearms from a motorboat, unlawfully hunting wolves, and killing moose without a licence.
He has also been banned from hunting for 10 years. The ban also prohibits him from guiding hunters for the next two years.
In addition, two of his employees and five of his clients were fined a total of $15,000.
The incidents took place between 2007 and 2009, and the investigation also involved the Vermont Fish and Wildlife department.
