Preparations are underway for the New Year's Eve Family Frolic at Fort William Historical Park.
Staff have been clearing rinks and carving snow as the park prepares to welcome in 2014.
The 16th annual event will feature snowshoeing , sliding, indoor crafts, a farm, and a skating rink as well as indoor and outdoor live music from 6 until 10 p.m.
Characters from our fur trade history will be tending the fire indoors until the fireworks finale, after which the David Thompson Astronomical Observatory Starwalk program will host a tour of the universe.
Fort William communications officer Marty Mascarin says the secret to the event's continued success is that it's a departure from the New Year's norm.
Again, the Family Frolic runs from six until ten and children under the age of five are admitted free.
