THUNDER BAY — City police have charged four people after an investigation into a violent incident at a south-side Thunder Bay apartment.
Officers responded to a weapons call in progress just before 5 a.m. Saturday at a residential building in the 100 block of Finlayson Street.
They found an adult male victim who appeared to have been assaulted.
Police learned that a woman had been banging on the victim's door earlier in the morning, accusing him of having stolen drugs.
When the man opened the door he was initially assaulted by the woman, and multiple other individuals then entered the premises.
According to the victim, he was handcuffed, threatened with a firearm, and relieved of his smartphone, cash and a bank card.
Despite the restraints, the man was able to flee to safety.
Police said they apprehended three suspects following what they described as a high-risk traffic stop just after 5 a.m., while a fourth accused was located and arrested at a nearby home.
The victim and the alleged perpetrators were known to each other.
An investigation revealed that the firearm used in the incident was a replica, but this was unknown to the victim at the time.
The accused face a variety of charges including forcible confinement, assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, robbery with violence and failure to comply with an undertaking.
Two of them were released from custody after a bail hearing Sunday, while the other pair was remanded into custody.
