TORONTIO – What do the Foxes say? Ding ding ding ding ding -- overtime goal, of course.

Stephen Fox on Friday night dished the puck off to Griffen Fox, who slammed it behind Toronto Metropolitan goaltender Kai Edmonds 1:26 into the extra frame to earn the Lakehead Thunderwolves a 4-3 road win, their second straight OUA men’s hockey victory.

The Thunderwolves led 3-0 midway through the third, but the Bold scored three times in a 6:10 span to tie the game and send it to overtime.

Kyle Auger, Ben Badalamenti and Stephen Fox, with his second of the season, also scored for Lakehead, who improved to 6-4-2 in 2022-23.

Ryan Wells, Jesse Barwell and Chris Playfair scored for TMU, Playfair’s goalie beating LU goaltender Max Wright at 17:52 of the third to send the game to overtime at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto.

TMU slipped to 8-2-1 with the loss, still good for second place in the OUA Central.

Lakehead’s two-game road trip concludes on Saturday night against the University of Toronto Varsity Blues.
