A lengthy fraud trial involving a Thunder Bay woman has now wrapped up at the Superior Court of Justice.

Kerry Wirkkunen, 38, faces seven charges, including fraud, theft, forgery and mischief, in connection with her role as a book keeper for a local contracting business.

Wirkkunen is accused of falsifying records to cover up the theft of about $250,000. The Crown presented bank records showing large amounts deposited into her personal accounts.

But Wirkkunen testified that one of the company's owners was attempting to hide profits from the other.

She claims the employer would write company cheques made out to Wirkkunen, and tell her to cash them and give him the money.

The trial began in February and continued for three more days this past week.

The judge is expected to render his verdict on September 18.
