DRYDEN, ON — A fundraiser has been organized for a Dryden family who reportedly lost all their possessions in a weekend house fire.
The Friday night blaze destroyed a residence on Duke Street.
The Dryden Fire Service says firefighters arrived to find the house fully involved, but all occupants were safe.
Firefighters initiated a defensive attack to protect nearby buildings.
The house collapsed quickly, causing damage to a gas meter and preventing crews from shutting off the valve.
In a combined effort with Enbridge Gas, Dryden Public Works, Roads & Water, and the OPP, firefighters located the gas distribution valve and shut it off, causing a temporary loss of service for 37 homes in the area.
The fire service says the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
A GoFundMe campaign with a goal of $8,500 had raised almost $8,900 by Monday morning.
