THUNDER BAY -- The future of the Thunder Bay Agricultural Research Station remains uncertain.

With a little more three months until its deadline for closure, there is still no core funding in place.
The station's director Tarlok Singh Sahota is asking the provincial government for roughly $225,000 just to stay afloat. Northern development minister Michael Gravelle said the station had nearly a decade to find other sources of funding.
But with No budget ...or Provincial funding in place...
Back in March the station was facing closure threats but $150,000 in unspent funds from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund pushed that threat to Dec. 31.

Gravelle said his government has supported the station for almost ten years now.

Sahota said they've have been searching for additional sources of funding but it's been an impossible task.
Core funding needs to be there and he's calling on the province to step up. Gravelle said the government continues to invest in agriculture across Northwestern Ontario.

Until the station is closed there's still hope Sahota said.
