Gas bar promises to keep fuel prices down

Gasoline prices in Thunder Bay could soon be on the way up, but one gas bar on the Fort William First Nation continues to offer fuel at nearly 10-cents a litre less than most stations in the city.
Gasoline prices in Thunder Bay could soon be on the way up, but one gas bar on the Fort William First Nation continues to offer fuel at nearly 10-cents a litre less than most stations in the city.

The THP gas bar on City Road has been offering regular unleaded for 90.2-cents a litre for the past few weeks. Gas bar officials say that although traffic has been steady, things really picked up Thursday morning when some gas bars along Arthur Street temporarily raised prices from 98 cents, to $1.08-a litre.

The prices at most gas bars along Arthur Street dropped back down to 98-cents a litre Thursday afternoon.

At least one gas bar owner says he thinks it is a sign of things to come.

THP owners are pledging to keep their gasoline at about 90-cents a litre for as long as they can, unless their supplier forces them to raise their prices.
