THUNDER BAY -- neighbourhood near Hammarskjold High School had to be evacuated Wednesday afternoon, due to a gas line break.
The mishap occurred behind a home near the corner of Sequoia Drive and Sequoia Crescent.
A person digging post holes for a fence apparently struck the natural gas line, causing a rupture.
Fire trucks and crews from Union Gas were rushed to the scene, and homes in the immediate area were evacuated until the gas line could be shut off and repaired.
Officials with Union Gas always remind the public to call before you dig.
