THUNDER BAY -- As of Friday morning, the cost of filling up your gas tank could change dramatically depending on where you are in the city.
According to the online gas price watchdog ontariogasprices.com, the cost of regular fuel at one gas bar on the north side was at nearly $1.27-per-litre. That’s a drastic increase from some gas bars in Fort William First Nation that were selling fuel at 97.5-cents-a-litre Friday morning.
Comparing city gas bars to their Fort William First Nation counterparts may be apples to oranges, however there is still a price difference of nearly 10-cents-a-litre between some gas bars on either side of the city.
On the southside, gas bars were showing fuel prices as low as $1.17-per-litre. Meanwhile at some gas bars on the northside, motorists could have been paying the already mentioned $1.27-per-litre.
While that it is the most drastic price gap, most southside gas bars are now selling fuel at only about one cent cheaper than their average north-side competitors.
White River is now Ontario’s most expensive place to purchase regular gas. By Friday morning, a gas bar in that community was showing a price of $1.31-a-litre.
Thunder Bay gas bars found themselves off of ontariogasprices.com’s list of most expensive gas stations, however, at least one local station found itself back on that list Friday.
Gas bars in Marathon, Emo and Atikokan also remain on that list of expensive gas prices, with prices between $1.24- and $1.26-a-litre.
